Doug Hall - Art Instructor

Art instructor Doug Hall recently celebrated his 40th year at Kirkwood Community College

Hall has taught many classes including painting, drawing and his favorite, printmaking.

Hall received his Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Iowa, where he worked as an assistant to the famous printmaker, Mauricio Lasansky

Hall said Kirkwood has changed a lot in 40 years. "It's decidedly bigger and better," said Hall.

"You used to know all of the faculty. Not even a chance now."

Hall has dedicated his life to Kirkwood arts. His artwork can be found all over Nielsen Hall, in computer labs and overlooking the dining room at the Class Act.

Hall said he has stayed with Kirkwood so long because "it beats the heck out of being a commercial artist."

"Here, I get to be around people who do art because they want to do it," he said.
