The norms of college partying are not only acceptable but will not have the entire room screaming "party foul" at you.
If you are a regular offender of these dos and don'ts, read up and take some notes. This could heavily benefit your future networking techniques or current socializing skills.

Student dos and don'ts:

"Don't fall asleep with your shoes on."
-- Ryan Schrock, Liberal Arts, major
Do make sure to take off all footwear before falling asleep, either at a party or in your bed.

"Don't hit on somebody's chick if her guy is bigger than you."
"Do hit on her if you have friends to back you up, though."
--Justin McNeal, Turf major.

Don't play music that an entire group of people cannot agree on.
"Do listen to the Asher Roth song, 'I Love College.' "
--Tyron Hackett, Liberal Arts major

Communique dos and don'ts:

Don't seclude yourself to only your friends and the people you are familiar with.
Do socialize with "party people" and make new friends.

Don't make out with multiple people, especially in front of multiple people.
Do flirt with someone making eye contact from across the room.

Don't stay out until the wee hours of the morning before an early class. Chances are you will not wake up to attend.
Do go out if you know you will get up for class or if you don't have school to worry about.

Don't gossip about other people in the room, especially if you do not know them.
Do get to know people before you pass a quick judgment. Most people aren't half as bad after you learn a little about them.

Don't go solo to parties.
Do bring friends to accompany you to avoid any awkward moments of not knowing anybody there.

Don't allow yourself to get to the point of no return.
Do pace yourself and be responsible.

Don't drive home if you are not physically fit.
Do always have extra cash on you in case you need to call a cab or have a designated driver.

Don't get in fights with anybody. Only drama queens enjoy conflict.
Do try to stray away from conflict and stay peaceful.

Don't be "that guy."
Do be yourself.

By following these tips, there will be no problem in staying appropriate at any party, whether it be in college or later in life. Be smart and stay safe. This phrase cannot be repeated enough.
